The Godfather 2 1974

              The Godfather 2

The Godfather 2 was released in 1974 which was considered as one of the best gangster movies of all time which starred Method Actors like: - Robert De Niro, AL Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton etc. Screenplay of this film was adapted from the 1969 novel written by Mario Puzo. After the success of first installment of the godfather franchise producers decided that it will be a trilogy in order to make it huge and complete the story with respect to the factor of fulfilling the demand of audience and fans of the gangster films and especially the franchise of the godfather.

                                    Wednesday Addams Dance

Francis ford coppola not only directed but also produced the film as well. It includes specific accolades like 11 nominations for academy awards and 6 wins for academy awards and also BAFTA awards for the same. Which includes Best Picture, Best Director etc. Paramount pictures were also included during the production part by Francis Ford Copolla was given the majority portion of creative control with respect to the ideas and suggestions of actors and Mario puzo also. The Godfather 2 was a highly influential film for both the pop-culture and the cinema which utilizes elements in modern era of Hollywood film industry and over the globe as well.

The portrayal of Italian gangsters and their special people around them which are called as CAPO and Consiglieri. The CAPO means a person who is a personal bodyguard, driver, chauffer etc. with respect to the trust of the Head of the family or the Mafia Boss then the Consiglieri is an Italian term which goes into literal translation of an Advisor in the film Tom Hagen who was played by Robert Duvall, The Consiglieri takes care of the legal and strategic ideas for the safety of the Don and its family also. CAPO is functional on the order of only one boss of mafia family who kills people as per the requirement and safety of his boss so that the higher authority is not disturbed to do this kind of crimes.

The Run time of this film is more than 3 hours and it was necessary in order to fulfill the requirements of the story and plot which creates an atmosphere of the layer where two stories progresses at the same time First is the story of Michael Corleone after he becomes the head of mafia family Corleone after his father’s death and the second is the Vito Corleone’s early life and struggle that how he started a mafia family and become the head of it who started making favors on the people as a boss which is portrayed by One of the best and my personal favorite actor of all time Robert De Niro who was casted in order to make it seem more original and authentic as well as a Italian and his experience of streets in real life which is utilized in a very fruitful manner.

This movie not only focuses on the casino and crime mafia business but also takes care of the politics and the agenda of different mafia bosses intentions of communism and the family problems are also shown in a very surprising manner here we can take an example of when the conversation between Michael and kay reveals that kay did an abortion because she does not want to give birth to the child of Michael and make this gang war continue after Michael’s death. Then the story also shows that how connections and relatives of the family never becomes rat for the Mafia bosses when don cici refuses his statement and goes to jail after seeing his brother in court with mobs of Michael and Tom Hagen goes to see Don in jail center at the end of the film where killings were started and slowly and gradually Michael starts slaying and whacking his enemies with respect to the blood relatives also like freedom, separates from his wife also.

The Cinematography of this film was outstanding and elegant in itself because the godfather Two’s Cinematography was way more high quality as compare to the first part of the franchise especially the scene when Vito Corleone’s early days were just started as a gangster then the boss the mafia and starts his own family as well. The colors were striking at a unique level which are light and dark at the same time the combination of colors which flaunts the aura of character and the work of Robert De Niro as Vito Corleone was sugar on top which makes this film ahead of time and cult classic at the same time. One of the similarity for both films was the colors which are used for fruits such as oranges in the scenes were extraordinary and creativity of those scenes were cherishing out of the box which makes the sub conscious minds of the audience to experience the characters larger than life also makes it seem real and authentic, In addition to that they’ll forget that this is a movie and will believe that the characters in the movie were in real life. Apart from that the most of the scenes from the film was shot in the Italian parts of the country.

The Soundtrack works as an enhancer for the film with respect to the element of the film which contains streets of New York and also village and rural parts of Italy. Before weeks of release it was said that movie will be a disaster but the film was a blockbuster for the critics and also at the box-office it was ranked 7th highest grossing film of US at 1974.

At the end I would like to say that The Godfather 2 was one of the greatest movies of all time with respect to the gangster movies which shows everything about a life of a gangster from struggle to success and an element of family and political problems on top of that. So, I would highly recommend you to watch and witness this masterpiece because every human being should watch this film before they die so until we meet next time Hasta La Vista Peace Out Folks.
