The Godfather 1972

                                       The Godfather

This Movie ‘’The Godfather’’ was released in 1972 it was adapted from the novella by Mario puzo named “The Godfather” itself. The film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola, screenwriting was done by Mario puzo with respect to the element of keep it more authentic and original which shows how mafia ruled the New York and controlled all the politicians and higher authorities. Here it is observable where Italian mafia was dictating the streets of America and it was portrayed in a very fruitful manner because the director and the actors casted for the movie they themselves are from the Italian origin itself.

Let us take a look at the fabulous cast of Godfather which includes: - Marlon Brando, AL Pacino, Robert Duvall etc. as per the actors we can see that majority of the actors casted are Italians in order to keep it more authentic.

The Godfather has won multiple awards such as OSCARS, Golden Globe etc. majority portion of the accolades were delivered to the domain of screenwriting and acting. Gordon Willis was the man behind cinematography of The Godfather which was so impressive and outstanding even in the era of 1970.

The story of this movie was astonishing and adapted in a very beautiful manner where puzo was provided 100,000$ at that time by paramount pictures in order to work on the godfather. The symbolism of how Don Vito Corleone earns people by doing favor on them and asking them to return their favor when needed. Not many people know about or haven’t noticed that at the time of wedding of wedding when Connie daughter of don Corleone and a bride was explaining her intimate relationship with his husband in a symbolic manner to her friends and family.

Minority of the audience will think upon that why the wedding scene of the movie was lengthy but in a way that’s the beauty and this is how the Ito show Italian wedding takes place mother if the bride was singing and other family members were busy planning the wedding and then take a meal together while capturing a photo this are the things which is taken from real life and are nuanced in a drastic manner. Another complain viewers have from godfather is that the film’s time length is also lengthy but in a literal sense it is necessary because if the film’s running time is less than majority of the portion from the story and plot will be messed up and it will not produce the outcome which it should do.

There is also certain news came out that it was hectic to work in an eco-system with Marlon Brando because of his tantrums and his violent behavior on sets with the crew and his co-stars as well. On the other hand, he also accepted lower salary also in order to make this film which was generous in itself. Do you know that assassinations of don barzini from the movie was shot at the premises of the real supreme court of Foley square in Manhattan? The scene where sonny was shot was costed them 100,000$ with total time of shooting of 3 days

Francis ford coppola was also criticized for the headless horse scene it was very gruesome also but the fact the head was real but it was ordered from the dog company and the horse killed for the scene was not for the film the horse was dead before his head was separated from his body at the time of shooting this film. This film shows mafia from inside their dealings with daily life and family issues which they face while committing crimes and standing on top of the government as well. Here we can take an example of how the man comes to don Vito Corleone for punishing the boys that misbehaved with his daughter but at that time Don asks him that why he didn’t cam e to him at the first time because he don’t want don to be his friends and because of which don chats with the doctor and at the end doctor makes Don vito Corleone his godfather and then don conveys the dialogue that he will take care of this but in return someday and that day might not come I will call you to return a favor and at that time he shall fulfill his respects to The Godfather.

To conclude I would like to express that The Godfather is a stunning masterpiece delivered by Francis Ford Coppola and Mari puzo with respect to their contribution at the classic cinema industry and it is my all-time go cult classic favorite because of the nuance and characters they portray in the following film every cinephile and my fellow earthling shall watch and enjoy it.
